Practical Love for Leicester

The gospel doesn't just speak — it serves. Through weekly community meals, homelessness outreach, and partnerships with local services, GGC stands alongside the most vulnerable in our city with dignity, warmth, and the love of Jesus.

Why Outreach Matters

The Gospel Walks Into the City

At Glorious Gospel Centre, we believe the gospel of grace cannot stay inside our walls. If Jesus came to seek and save the lost, to feed the hungry, and to lift up the broken-hearted, then His Church must do the same. Outreach is not a programme we run — it is who we are.

Every initiative below is driven by the same conviction: that every person we serve carries the image of God, and is worthy of warmth, dignity, and respect.

What We Do

Two Programmes, One Heart

The Community Kitchen

Every week, our team prepares and serves warm, nourishing meals to individuals and families in Leicester city centre facing hardship. Meals are free, no questions asked, and served with the warmth of a family table.

  • Saturdays · 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm
  • Outside 31 Saint John's Street, Leicester city centre
  • Free hot meal · No referral needed

Homelessness Outreach

A smaller team walks Leicester city centre each fortnight to visit, listen to, and support those sleeping rough. We bring warm drinks, sandwiches, sleeping bags in winter, and a friendly face — building relationships and signposting to local services where helpful.

  • Every other Friday · 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm
  • Walking route through Leicester city centre
  • In partnership with local rough-sleeping services
Our Story

From a Borrowed Table to a City Family

Diverse volunteer team setting up the Glorious Gospel Centre Saturday community kitchen in Leicester.
  1. 2021

    A Borrowed Table

Three GGC members started serving meals on a Saturday afternoon with one borrowed folding table and a few dozen home-cooked dishes. The first week, eight people came.

  2. 2022

    A Weekly Rhythm

The community kitchen became a regular Saturday fixture. Volunteers grew from three to twenty, and partnerships with local food rescue networks reduced waste and increased capacity.

  3. 2023

    Walking the Streets

The homelessness outreach walk launched, taking the same warmth onto the streets of Leicester two evenings a month.

  4. 2024

    Partnering Locally

Formal partnerships with two local rough-sleeping services and a city food charity began, allowing us to signpost guests to long-term support beyond a hot meal.

  5. 2026

    One City Family

Today, more than 80 volunteers serve regularly. Hundreds of meals go out each month, and the work continues — one neighbour, one meal, one conversation at a time.

“Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”
Matthew 25:40
Two Ways to Engage

Walk With Us — As a Volunteer or a Neighbour

Serve With Us

We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds — whether you've served before or this is your first time. Help us cook, serve, drive, walk the streets, or simply sit and listen.

Need a Meal or Some Support?

If you or someone you know in Leicester needs a hot meal, a friendly face, or signposting to longer-term support, please reach out — confidentially and without judgement.

All requests for support are treated confidentially. We never share names or details with anyone outside our small care team.
